Practice makes perfect if you want to excel. Children from primary schools in Lingenau and Schwarzenberg in the Bregenzerwald get a playful insight into the everyday life of our processes, automation solutions, software products and apps.
Mathias asked us if we knew what we needed to make concrete. Because I've helped my dad many times before, I knew that you need cement, water and sand. : )
Christine explained to us that it is very important how the concrete is mixed so that it is stable and doesn't break apart and that they programme the control systems for this at Dorner. To help us better understand how a control system works, we were allowed to mix our own concrete in a box with colourful balls inside. Using a touch display, we were able to decide for ourselves how many yellow, red and blue balls should be mixed. The control unit inside the box mixed the concrete exactly according to my input.
We were then allowed to choose a workstation on the computer and first had to wire it up correctly. There were lots of different cables hanging around. Then we were allowed to start the Dorner game. Here we had to fulfil the tasks of a Dorner technician, i.e. drive to the company, call a customer and repair a dornerBatch. But you could also drink coffee and drive a car in the game.
At the end, we were shown the large server room and a few offices. And there was lemonade and sandwiches. I thought the coolest thing was the Dorner game, which we were allowed to take home on a USB stick!
