60 years of Dorner Electronic is an occasion for us to celebrate the history and future of the company. The work in the depot has resulted in a book edited by Andreas Dorner. The publication is conceptually based on the idea of a vinyl record.
At first glance, you might think you are holding a vinyl record in your hands. But in fact it is a book. The individual episodes of the company's history are divided into ’tracks ’, emphasising the musical inspiration of the work.
The font colour picks up on the green tone of a circuit board. Each track opens with an atmospheric quote from a song selected by Andreas Dorner. The character of the chapters is staged by special key visuals. The ingenious folding technique invites you on a journey of discovery.
‘This design line fits the book because music plays an important role for me, not only during performances with our company band.’
‘Engaging with history is far more than producing a beautiful book. We have achieved a great deal that will bear fruit in the future.’
In this book, the objects from our depot form stories. They tell of purposeful creation and gradually come together to form a larger whole. Those who engage with it will experience a kaleidoscope of stimulating perspectives on life that go beyond entrepreneurship.
Portraits of the protagonists of the entrepreneurial family, reflections by Andreas Dorner and a double interview with his son Kilian arrange the individual finds into the bigger picture. The anniversary book also documents two art projects – a photo essay by photo artist Julius Hirtzberger and a sculpture by Thomas Schrenk.
‘Everyone has put their heart and soul into the book and revealed a great deal about themselves in the process. This has resulted in a truly meaningful and very personal work.’
